How to Schedule Downloads – Asianet Dataline Night Unlimited
by VARKEY on Dec.19, 2008, under Internet
Note : Please check the latest article for updated instructions.
Asianet Dataline is an ISP which operates in Kerala. They now provide free night time usage from 2 AM to 6 AM for Plans WOW 249, Homenet 475, Homenet 950 and Homenet 1500.
ADL uses a web based login system so we need to automatically login at 2 AM to start the downloads. For that two softwares are required, and they are
- A good scheduler like JIT Scheduler ( Download )
- Curl which is used to automate the login process ( Download )
First extract the curl-adl.zip which you can download from the above link. After that edit the file curl1.bat using Notepad and enter your username and password. If your login URL is different please edit the IP too.
curl -d “username=username&password=password “http://10.129.0.13/24online/servlet/CyberoamHTTPClient
Also install the JIT Scheduler from the link above.
Now open JIT Scheduler and click the ‘New’ task button on top and enter the details as shown in the images below to login automatically at the specified time. Also repeat the process every 5 minutes incase you are automatically logged out by the system.
Now create another task to shutdown the system at 6 AM. Do as shown in the images below.
The above process will automate the login and logout process. Now you need to use a download manager like Flashget to download the files and you can use the inbuilt scheduler in Flashget to start the downloads at 2 AM and stop at 6 AM.
If you are using torrents, µTorrent also has an option to schedule the downloads. You can find the option in Preferences.
If you are facing any problem please leave a comment.
UPDATE : I have posted the new instructions for configuring the automatic login thanks to Vasu d’ evan’s comment!

Hi
your article was awesome… this is really helpful to people using ADL night plans.
But i am here to ask u some doubt regarding the IP address of an ADL connection.
I am using a WOW199 plan with a 1024MB transfer limit. Is there any way by which i can get a new IP address when I make a request, usually this can be done by switching off the modem and switching on back again, in some specific patterns of time, i couldn’t figure out when are they initiating the IP change
Tried to request a new IP by using the command
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
but this doesnt work.
I need a method to renew IP address programaticaly with out switching the modem off.
Are you aware of a different method by which i can do the same, prefer programmaticaly.
could you please help to solve this issue.
Thanking you in advice.
Regards
Bijo.

This looked interesting but now the ADL login has changed to an https url and how to automate that with this curl?
can you post an article on it?
Thanks.
February 5th, 2009 on 6:55 am
Or can you help me “Create a new connection” via the network wizard in XP which can then be automated using any tool. The problem here is that ADL has a dialup connection type setup with username and password with a url instead of a phone number even though it claims to be broadband.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks again.

hey..thanks for that info.
But i am getting an error “curl: (7) couldn’t connect to host”
I ran the batch file using command prompt(as admin) in vista for checking the error.
Can you help me?

Sorry for the delay guys!
Bijo Pulikkottil – Its purely random in my experience. Another way to get a new IP would be to change the ethernet mac id. That process can be automated but the problem is you will need to call them sometimes as their DHCP server doesnt allot the IP.
Confused – It should work with a https url also imo. Anyway I’m now sure as in Cochin this method is still working fine. And its not possible to use the Windows XP new connection wizard for ADL.
Sarath Kumar – You need to append “24online/servlet/CyberoamHTTPClient” to end of the host.
Renjith – If you are not from Cochin you need to change the IP of your login server.

Sarath Kumar, Confused – It seems like ADL has changed their system from Cyberoam to MettleWire in Trivandrum.
http://www.techtalkz.com/blog/internet/asianet-dataline-moves-to-mettle-wire-ditches-cyberoam-24online.html
So this method wont work.
March 31st, 2009 on 5:37 pm
Thanks for the reply, yes I guess they have changed the whole system and thus the login process is different here, so this method is not working here at Trivandrum. I found a new method, just schedule Firefox in JIT Scheduler to run at 2 AM with the home page as http://WWW.MSN.COM or http://WWW.GOOGLE.COM, which will automatically get redirected to the ADL login page if you are not already connected and then use the addon called ‘Secure Login’ in Firefox to login automatically with the remembered username and password. And rest of the scheduling can be done as you have described.
Have a nice time.
Any improvements and better methods are most welcome
April 3rd, 2009 on 11:56 pm
Now the login page is changed in Kochi too
.
I tried with the firefox secure login. But v have to click on that ‘golden key’ to get logged in. V can schedule JIt to run firefox at 2 am. But how to login automatically without clicking the ‘golden key’??
Some one pleaseeee help…..

this should work
curl -k -F “auth_user=username” -F “auth_pass=secret” -F “accept=Login” https://mwcp-tvm-03.adlkerala.com:8001/
April 8th, 2009 on 11:03 pm
Thank you segfault for the info.
I’m happy to see the comment from the developers of MettleWire itself!
April 19th, 2009 on 1:10 pm
Try using Internet download manager(IDM). It has an option for browser logins to schedule download.
It is also a good download manager.
April 26th, 2009 on 9:40 am
Hi Alan,
here’s the trick to AutoLogin using ‘Secure Login’. After installing the addon, open fiefox and in the address bar type ‘about:config’ which will take you to the Firefox configuration settings after you click the ‘I will be careful, I promise!’ warning.
Now, in the filter box you type ‘secureLogin’, which will give you the settaings for the addon, here you change the ‘extensions.secureLogin@blueimp.net.autoLogin’ value to ‘true’ by double clicking it. And this does the work
A new problem has arised now, which the ‘Keep Alive’ time out error.
To overcome this I launch the firefox in regular intervals during the free download period using JIT.
Hope that helps.
Also happy to find another simple method from ‘segfault’, hope it works as Varkey says he is one of the developers of MettleWire itself
April 26th, 2009 on 10:01 am
Wow, segfault’s suggested trick works, BINGO.
curl -k -F “auth_user=username” -F “auth_pass=secret” -F “accept=Login” https://mwcp-tvm-03.adlkerala.com:8001/
or
curl -k -F “auth_user=username” -F “auth_pass=secret” -F “accept=Login” https://mwcp-tvm-04.adlkerala.com:8001/
ADL keeps alternating betwen tvm-03 and tvm-04, so do check that.
May 7th, 2009 on 10:30 pm
Hi I just edited the .bat file as segfault suggested
curl -k -F “auth_user=username” -F “auth_pass=secret” -F “accept=Login” https://mwcp-tvm-03.adlkerala.com:8001/
I directly executed the batch file but its not logging me in
May 11th, 2009 on 8:09 pm
@confused
You can tell the curl to follow a redirection and redo the request on the new place. As per the manpage, you must require curl 7.19.1 or later to do this.
Install the latest curl and try this,
curl -L –post302 –max-redirs 3 -k -F “auth_user=username” -F “auth_pass=********” -F “accept=Login” http://example.com
May 12th, 2009 on 11:07 pm
Hey #
segfault please tell me where to download the latest version of cURL
May 13th, 2009 on 12:37 am
Navarose – You can get it from here
http://curl.haxx.se/dlwiz/?type=bin&os=Win32&flav=-&ver=2000%2FXP
Another thing is noticed is that if you leave the browser open after logging in, it doesnt log you out for inactivity etc. Also at 2 AM it automatically creates a new session so there is no need to logout at 2 AM and login again.
May 13th, 2009 on 10:34 pm
Thanks Varkey.. I downloaded the .exe but i dont see any .bat file to edit in the zip file
May 13th, 2009 on 10:41 pm
As segfault suggested create a new .bat file with
curl -L –post302 –max-redirs 3 -k -F “auth_user=username” -F “auth_pass=********” -F “accept=Login” http://www.google.com
This method is only required if your login server keeps changing. If its static and does not change you just need to use
curl -k -F “auth_user=username” -F “auth_pass=secret” -F “accept=Login” https://mwcp-tvm-03.adlkerala.com:8001/
June 17th, 2009 on 7:27 pm
Hey…if I am already logged in before 2AM, do i have to logout and log back in to use nightfree? I heard BSNL Dataone has that problem…
June 17th, 2009 on 9:48 pm
^ No its not necessary to log off and log in at 2AM. A new session is automatically started at 2AM.
June 22nd, 2009 on 12:13 am
Hi everyone. This is yet another method for logging in automatically . Schedule to run firefox with the command line firefox https://mwcp-tcr-01.adlkerala.com:8001/ …etc (change the url according to your location) and like someone posted before ,use securelogin and addon for firefox .Save your password and Do not forget to set the value of “extensions.secureLogin@blueimp.net.autoLogin” to true in about:config.
If you feel the connection is not reliable and that you will need to connect every 15 minute or so. Set the kill time in the scheduler and repeat the task. Hope this was useful .
June 24th, 2009 on 8:46 pm
Will it work on windows 7 ?
i am having problems..in running the login….while running the application on JIT scheduler it’s showing some errors..like couldn’t “connect to host”..after that…I am also having troubles in Internet Explorer 8..i cant access any website through tat browser..only fire fox is working in my PC..please help me..!!!

Just a small doubt…when they say xxxx mb per month is it 30 days from activation of service or the end of the current month?
June 30th, 2009 on 6:14 pm
^ In the first month they calculate on pro rata basis.
And it is the end of the month and not 30 days from activation.

Hey, I’m on Homenet 880 Unlimited. I keep getting the ‘Keep Alive’ error as I leave the computer on with the torrents downloading.
Any solution to this problem, guys?
September 13th, 2009 on 7:10 pm
I have seen this ‘Keep Alive’ errors couple of times. But now it is not showing up any more. I use a python script to auto login and keep it alive with out using a browser. I can share it if anyone need. shaj2000 [at] gmail [dot] com

just use macrorecorder to record key strokes and mouse movts.

Superb discussion forum, Thanks to Varkey! When initially I encountered this problem, I’d not given much thought to it. However, once I left for my native for 6 days and had kept my computer ON, with internet and a macro running (to keep my internet alive) to download ~4 GB data. When I came back, to my disappointment, the macro had run into some error at ~0.5 GB download and rest of the time my comp. was idle!
So here’s a trick that I use ever since then (and has always worked)
Step 1: Download and install Firefox –> http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/personal.html
Step 2: Download and install Firefox add-in “Secure Login” –> http://securelogin.mozdev.org/
Step 3: After installing the add-on, open fiefox and in the address bar type “about:config” which will take you to the Firefox configuration settings after you click the “I will be careful, I promise!” warning
Now, in the filter box you type “secureLogin”, which will give you the settings for the add-on, here you change the “extensions.secureLogin@blueimp.net.autoLogin” value to “true” by double-clicking it. In this way the username and password saved by you would be automatically used by “secure login” to login to your ADL account
Step 4: Open the ADL login page (mine is “https://mwcp-tvm-02.adlkerala.com:8001/”) and type in your username & password to login. Secure login will check if you want it to remember the password, say Yes! (This method works even without the secure login add-on, however, I found secure login to be useful and makes life all the more easier)
Step 5: Download and install the Firefox add-in “Reload Every” –> http://reloadevery.mozdev.org/
Step 6: After installing Reload Every navigate to the ADL login address, secure login will automatically log you in. Now using the Reload Every, you can simply “refresh” the login, i.e., you can set firefox to send the same information again after a specified time-interval (I prefer 5 mins)
Note: When activated, Reload Every immediately asks whether you would like to resend info (click on RESEND). Unlike other webpages being refreshed, when refreshing the login page of ADL, you are asking firefox to resend your Login info (POST DATA). Thus, Reload Every checks back (after the initial time interval specified by you, 5 mins in my case), whether you are ok with this. Once you click on YES, it will work perfectly fine from then on . . .
Step 7: Reload Every fails sometimes if it does not get enough bandwidth/memory allocation. Thus to ensure that it works smoothly, set your max. download speed to a little less than your actual max. speed. For e.g., I have a max. speed of 29-30 kbps for downloads. So in my BitTorrent client, I set a max. download speed of “25 kbps”. This ensures that Reload Every works perfectly fine and I am never disconnected
Hope this trick helps and once again thanks a million to Varkey and all others who’ve contributed

is there anyway to use a third party voip thru asianet dataline? preferable logging to asianet with username and password thru the cable modem settings itself rather than using the computer.
December 27th, 2009 on 8:55 pm
To Vasu d’ evan… first time I am seeing a person who used macro to do it for 4 full days…
I generally use macro to open the browser, log in, minimise the browser and then click the download software I use. I make sure the pc is turned off before 8.00 am. There has been a few errors some days but most of the time it went well. And i would never think of keeping the pc alive for 4 days.. except when I had bsnl 256 kbps unlimited… I used to download 2 gb per 24 hrs.. Then the 2-8am plan of bsnl… 4 gb per free time…mainly torrent… now asianet 2-8am…mainly direct download…very poor torrent speed…2-8gb per free time…
Any way u r the best contributor in this forum I would say… A precise answer took a long time to come… Keep up the good work!!!

Varkey please help me.How can we login without our own username and password?
February 7th, 2011 on 10:41 am
ADL Autologin is designed for Asianet Dataline users, especially those on Limited Data Packages.
It has been a frequent problem to keep manually logging in with your Username and Password each time you want to browse the Internet.
Sometimes you may want to Login to ADL as soon as the computer is booted up.
Other times you may want to login or logout at specific times. Especially those on the very popular HOMENET475 package get free browsing from 2:00 AM to 8:00 AM. It is quite a chore to keep awake and to download what you need at 2:00 in the morning all the time. Methods are available but are cumbersome for those with little programming experience.
Also, there is no fast way to find out how much of your monthly quota of Data you have used. You have to make a separate login and then only you can find out your total usage. Sometimes you exceed the allotted limits because you failed to notice that you overstepped the limits. And then you have to pay excess charges at very high rates!
Now ADL AutoLogin is here to rescue you from all these problems.
